Ellis discusses her childhood in South Carolina, Philadelphia and New York City, attending Hunter College in New York and her move to California in 1942. She became a teacher in Los Angeles in 1947. Ellis discusses her thirty-four year career as well as her marriage and family life, volunteerism, and travels in Africa.
